Post Subtitled: "Welcome to Seattle where the SUN DON'T SHINE." Homesick-inducing local hip-hop video by JAKE ONE (dist. by Rhymesayers?)

THANKS to Bubba for the "grown in a lab at Seattle U" (tenfootman) for the tip.
Owwwh! In terms of where this video was shot it is probably THE most familiar-looking video ever. I think I could not only name every corss-street and storefront of every location but also name the businesses that were there before...
psst: hey, isn't that Butterfly?? yep.

Post Titled: Which one of these Captions bests fits the above foto?:
A. "Fascists R' Us" called and they want their star Parking Policewoman back.
B. Terminator: Salivation.
C. Somebody seriously needs to get laid (and it ain't the newlyweds.)
D. Humanity FAIL.
E. "GERMANS...!"
So, I accidentally arrive to a wedding a half-hour early (and about every half-hour a new wedding party emerges from the
Standesamt Mitte under a hail of rice, etc. Beautriful, really) but as I am observing the current wedding party I notice
the guys from the wedding sort of one-by one running over to deal with a Parking Policewoman. She was working in tandem with
another Policewoman to basically bust the whole lote of everyone, none of whom were obviosly illegally parked, and all of whom
were parked on one of the most low-traffic streets in Mitte. Nevertheless, the Parking Policewoman worked her way from car to car
with her little Rechner... wow. I am so glad I had a camera today. More images to come from this absolutely beautiful and
strange morning/afternoon.

Post Titled: the Scifiologist in Summer...
on the ufer yesterday I bump into my former co-worker, a charming gentleman from Wales and his friend who was visiting from out of town.
The friend just happened to be wearing a stencilled shirt with not one but two Imperial Probe Droids on it...
I'm not one to care or notice clothes or fashion all that much, but at this point I start having hot flashes:
"Whoawhoawhoa-! Did you make your shirt??"
"Uhm, my friend made it..."
"Does he have a website!?"
"He probably does..."

by that point I was seriosly considering having the imperial probe droid tatooed somethere on my body...
I think that I have the same reaction so many a sci-fi charachter as most people might have towards... hmm, an aurora borealis or a beautiful woman, perhaps...

I was a member of the Lucasfilm Fan Club in Jr. High, and lemme tell you- there wasn't much to report around then... Willow was 1988, and the Star wars re-releases weren't until -what-1997? that is a 9 year gap where there was a whole lotta nothing going on, but nevertheless, they had a magazine.
So, I ask you, dear blogosphere, who can hand me my honorary PhD in Sci-Fiology?

by the way, i just discovered that "robot" means "to work" in Russian...

FICTION: "Noah's ____"
"Noah's ____" is a short story written and read by me. Some of you will even be able to pick out the characters. I'd highly recommend downloading it and taking it with you in an iPod or fake iPod since it is about 23 min. Long (an honestly it gets off to sort of a dull/rocky start). The above photo is from the story, shot by the brilliantly talented Issara Willenskomer
Notes on the story: it is based on real people and actual events. Please excuse the hoarseness of my sick voice as I stumble over my own words. The original story was hand-written, xeroxed, and hand-bound in small hardback editions which I sold on the streets of Berlin back before I had a job and/or work permit. I think it is a pretty fun story, and although I am not totally satisfied with this cold reading (after having not picked it up for over 2 years) it is good enough for now, and if I choose to replace it with a smoother version I'll upload it here. THanks and ENJOY!

Post Titled: non-fiction, non-profit, neukölln and back
I started work for a small non-profit yesterday somewhat deep in neukoelln. Just walking there is amazing, it is about 20 minutes due south on foot from my apartment, and as I get closer to work, the streets get steadily more busy and much much more fascinating, maybe I will shoot the trip today... anyhow, the offices are on the top floor of a building that looks like it was once a fantastic Muppet Hotel from a film made 20-plus years ago. I was trying to ring for about five minutes so that someone might buzz me in until I realized that i could buzz myself in, and the first thing I encountered inside the lobby was a Country Western Squaredance Treffpunkt which looked exactly like it had dropped out of the Middle of Nowhere, Texas.
The offices are a few blocks past Rathaus Neukölln, which is a neighborhood I lived in back in 2006 when we first moved to Berlin. A slightly whacky, slightly depressing area full of Turks and other foreigners, it is bustling and yet completely lazy all at once. But what i am noticing now is that if feels so completely home-y, home-ish. These discount stores and cheap bakeries and these old guys lining the sidewalks with their shisha (hookahs) and their backgammon seems all too familiar and normal now.
