Friend and former housemate Issara Willenskomer is traveling in india to film and install solar panels, resulting in some verrry entertaining blog entries, z.B.:

"Ladakh: a journey into intestinal fortitude
Kategorie: Travel and Places

Yaque has eloquently summed it all up, "Every time I come to India, I have one continuous fart. And it's fine when I go home but I don't know if my ass will ever be the same." Truly, much more can be said on both the subject of India and farting, but why bother? The truth is that we are in Ladakh, perpetual moonscape, imbiber of that myopic lens, the quintessential National Geographicâ„¢ eurocentric exotification of foreign lands and cultures. It is also the land of apricots, high deserts, mongrel dogs, mongrel cats, mongrel tourists. At night the stars are as big as grapefruits and you need a net to scoop them out of the sky. When we jokingly asked our host about yeti, he was so matter of fact, it was if we had asked him about prayer flags. The dust gets into everything and the air greedily sucks the moisture out of your body in an effort to equalize you with the dry atmosphere. Yesterday we witnessed a magnificent cat fight. After growling nose to nose for ten minutes, they erupted in a yowling ball of rage, spewing dust and tufts of hair. We laughed and cheered from our balcony. My white guilt is at an all time low. I have too much knowledge. In Nepal, in anticipation of the hoards of tourists soon to arrive this year or next, they are already putting up signs explaining that when alms are given to a beggar child, it allows them the luxury of not attending school, which is free. This system is perpetuated by foreigners who are moved by the impossibly cute, impossibly insistent 'exotic' child, and are compelled to act through the heart and wallet. Nepal recommends donating to schools, NGO's and pretty much anybody who will prevent the movement of children from the schools to the streets."
