Beamed out of Berlin, welcome to the blog I've been calling "Post-Google" since 2005. I don't post too often anymore and the things I do post are written at odd hours or on my morning commute. This is not fine writing, these are in no way essays - just sketches of thoughts. Works for me.

On bad days -when I now think about the EU, the image of the Rockbiter often comes to mind. (The Neverending Story) The Rockbiter is ancient, slow, crusty, a little bit wise but more likely helpless- and a victim of his own apathy, sure to be dragged away by the Nothing… then I have to remind myself that America is probably worse... well, who knows anymore, really.Labels: the EU EUropean Union the rockbiter the neverending story

The rockbiter was actually a VERY sweet creature, a bit immature, but very sweet. He really looked out for the racing snail and friends.
And, if you recall, although it seemed that the nothing destroyed everything, once Sebastian believed, the nothing was everything, and everything was everywhere and everyone was everything, and nothing was nothing.
So, can you fit that into your analogy somewhere?
BTW - I've always wanted a Luck Dragon!
True- he was really nice, and through the saving power of imagination the world survived...
Matt Payne's dog looked exactly like the Luck Dragon.
